Four long days…
By Stefan Knauff (Jahrgangsstufe 11 – zur Zeit in USA)
If you take a look at “SPIEGEL ONLINE” or “STERN.DE” these days, one of the top themes is the presidential election in the United States of America. For many months it is one big topic in the German news, the voting in the United States.

I live now over two months in the US and first it was interesting to hear what the people in the US think about the election. In the last weeks I became sick of it – like most Americans here. Everybody is waiting for the Election Day and it can’t be quick enough. If you try to watch a show on TV, you’ll see more political commercials than anything else. Even if you are not watching TV – because you don’t want to see all the ads – you are not safe. The parties are calling you from time to time and a robot voice praises how good the one party is.
But the worst thing started around two weeks ago. You hear every morning during the announcements at school commercials. These are different, because a political class in my school is running a school wide election. The goal is that all students can vote even if we are not allowed to vote for the real election. In most hallways are commercials for the different parties. I think a school wide voting for all students is a great idea, but I’m just sick of all the commercials, like almost everyone here.
The election is only four days away. Just four long days.
